Our Story

Gulexy Creations is a South African, female-founded fashion house built around craftsmanship, creativity and the making of clothing. It is a business built intentionally — one piece, one collection at a time — rather than presented as a generic, mass-market label.

The Founder

Mokgadi G Letsoalo — Founder & Creative Director

Gulexy Creations was founded by a designer with a background in journalism, a storyteller’s eye that now shows up in how she approaches clothing. Long before the business took shape, she was reworking and revamping garments, finding new possibilities in fabric, shape and construction rather than starting from a blank page. That practice is still at the centre of how Gulexy pieces are made today.

She works hands-on, at an industrial sewing machine, through every stage of development. She also lives with arthritis, a fact of her daily life, not a story about overcoming one, and not something that has changed her commitment to the craft.

Design Philosophy

Design at Gulexy starts with what a piece of fabric or a garment already is, and asks what it could become. That approach, rooted in reworking and revamping, carries through into new pieces as well: considered construction, thoughtful pattern work, and a preference for clothing with character over clothing that follows a trend.

Craftsmanship

Every Gulexy piece is designed, patterned, cut and constructed by hand, with each garment passing quality control before it’s considered ready.
